Complete Chiropractic Sports & Wellness

Understanding peptide therapy

Peptides are short chains of amino acids — the same building blocks your body uses to make proteins and many of its own signaling molecules. At Complete Chiropractic Sports & Wellness in Durham, we offer peptides two ways: needle-free oral strips you can pick up at our office, or injectable peptides prescribed by a licensed clinician through our partner CCRX and shipped to your door. Below, we'll help you figure out which one fits your goals, your comfort level, and your routine.

Peptide Therapy at Complete Chiropractic Sports & Wellness in Durham

Injectable peptides are prescribed through our partner, CCRX: a licensed clinician reviews your health history and decides whether treatment is appropriate, and a licensed 503A compounding pharmacy fills the prescription. Oral peptide strips are a wellness product sold at our front desk. Neither one replaces medical care.

Two ways to start

Oral strips or injections: which is right for you?

Both options use peptides. What differs is how you take them, where you get them, and how much clinical oversight comes with them — and neither is the right answer for everyone.

What is peptide therapy?

Peptides are short chains of amino acids — the building blocks your body uses to make proteins. Many peptides occur naturally in the body, where they help carry signals between cells. Peptide therapy uses specific peptides, on their own or in blends, as part of a wellness routine.

At Complete Chiropractic Sports & Wellness, peptides sit alongside our functional medicine, nutrition coaching, and wellness care services. The oral strips we carry are grouped around recovery, healthy aging, energy, and metabolic goals.

How to choose between oral strips and injections

Both formats deliver peptides. The difference is how you take them, how you get them, and how much clinical oversight comes with them.

Oral strips may suit you best if you’d rather avoid needles, want to start the same day, or are already coming in for chiropractic or wellness care. You pick them up at our front desk, and each strip dissolves in about 30 seconds.

Injections may suit you best if you want a licensed clinician to review your health history and set your prescription, you’re comfortable with a small self-injection under the skin, and you’d like your peptides delivered. Injections are ordered through our partner CCRX and filled by a licensed 503A compounding pharmacy.

The two aren’t interchangeable one-for-one — they’re different formats with different doses. If you’re unsure, ask us at your next visit, or start a CCRX consultation and let the clinician weigh in.

About CCRX, our injection partner

CCRX is the platform behind our injectable peptide option. It isn’t a pharmacy itself: prescriptions are written by licensed clinicians after reviewing your health history, then compounded and dispensed by a licensed 503A pharmacy partner and shipped in temperature-controlled packaging. CCRX currently ships to 46 states, including North Carolina.

Complete Chiropractic Sports & Wellness doesn’t prescribe medication. The decision about whether an injectable peptide is appropriate for you belongs to the CCRX clinician.

Who should talk to a physician first

Peptides are not a substitute for medical care, and they aren’t right for everyone. Talk with your physician before starting any peptide if you:

  • Are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or nursing
  • Manage a chronic condition, or have a current or past cancer diagnosis
  • Take prescription medication, especially for blood sugar or weight
  • Are under 18

If a peptide isn’t a good fit for your situation, we’ll tell you — and point you toward care that is.

Important information

Oral peptide strips are wellness products. These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration, and these products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Compounded medications, including injectable peptides, are not FDA-approved; they’re prepared by a licensed pharmacy for an individual patient under a valid prescription.

Peptide Therapy FAQ

Still have questions? Contact us — we're happy to help.

What are peptides?+

Peptides are short chains of amino acids, the building blocks of proteins. Your body makes many peptides naturally, and they act as signals between cells. Peptide therapy uses specific peptides as a wellness tool, taken either as an oral strip or as a prescribed injection.

What's the difference between peptide strips and peptide injections?+

Strips dissolve against the inside of your cheek, need no prescription, and are available at our Durham office. Injections go just under the skin, require a consult with a licensed clinician through our partner CCRX, and ship to your door once a prescription is approved.

Which option should I choose?+

Choose strips if you'd rather avoid needles, want to start today, or are already coming in for care. Choose injections if you want a licensed clinician to review your health history and prescribe, and you're comfortable giving yourself a small injection.

Is one form stronger than the other?+

They're different formats with different doses, so they aren't interchangeable one-for-one. If clinician-set, prescription dosing matters most to you, injections through CCRX give you that. If convenience and no needles matter most, strips are the simpler place to start. Injectable peptides are considered the gold standard as their absorption rates are higher, although both pass through the digestive system and liver.

Do I need a prescription?+

Not for the oral strips we carry. Injectable peptides do require one — an independent licensed clinician at our partner CCRX reviews your health history and decides whether treatment is appropriate, and a licensed 503A pharmacy fills it. Our chiropractors don't prescribe medication.

How do I take a peptide strip?+

Place a strip against the inside of your cheek and let it dissolve, which takes about 30 seconds. It's absorbed through the lining of your mouth rather than your stomach. We'll go over how to use the strip you choose when you pick it up.

How much do peptide strips cost?+

Strips range from $119 to $249 per box. Most boxes hold 30 strips, while GLP-2 and GLP-3 boxes hold 8. Injectable peptide pricing is shown on CCRX, and what you're prescribed depends on the clinician's review.

Can I use HSA or FSA funds?+

CCRX lists every prescription product as HSA/FSA eligible, which makes injections the easier route if you plan to use those funds. HSA/FSA can be used for oral peptides as they are treated the same as supplementation.

Are peptides safe for everyone?+

No product suits everyone. Talk with your physician first if you're pregnant or nursing, manage a chronic condition, or take prescription medication, especially for blood sugar. Peptides aren't a substitute for medical care, and we'll tell you honestly if something else fits better.

Can injectable peptides ship outside North Carolina?+

CCRX ships to 46 states. It isn't yet available in Alabama, Arkansas, California, Mississippi, or South Carolina. If you live in one of those states, the oral strips from our Durham office are the option available to you.

Do you serve patients outside Durham?+

Yes. Complete Chiropractic Sports & Wellness welcomes patients from across the Triangle, including Cary, Chapel Hill, Morrisville, Apex, Raleigh, and Research Triangle Park — and injectable peptides through CCRX ship directly to your home.
